What is Happening in Delaware!?!

This is a question that has been asked often in Libertarian Party circles.

The short answer is that there has been a change in leadership outside the convention, but within the boundaries of the established bylaws.

This change occurred because several members of the elected Board were acting in a way that was detrimental to the party and suggested an intent to take over the Libertarian Party of Delaware, in the opinion of a majority of the Board members, and the bylaws gave that majority the authority to do something about it.

Except...

The Board members who were removed were members of the notorious "Mises Caucus" PAC, so they have called their followers around the country in to make a big stink about it and insist that they were not properly removed.  And if they were removed then it wasn't fair.  And if it was fair then they should be restored anyway.

There's a lot of bad information out there being spread by the Mises PAC's army of podcasters and shitposters, very little of it accurate and even less of it framed in the proper context to provide understanding.

Due to their intransigence and marching orders from the National Mises Organization, the removed members of the Libertarian Party of Delaware State Board are now threatening lawsuits in addition to their lobbying efforts aimed at the LNC to abridge the autonomy of their Delaware affiliate.

On this site, you can contribute to the efforts to fight back against these threats by donating to the Legal Defense Fund or, if you were a delegate to the 2020 LP Convention or are a current sustaining member of the LP you can sign the petition to appeal the LNC's interference to the LP's Judicial Committee.

Begin with information about what is going on in the Libertarian Party nationally.  Next you can read about the origins of the Mises Caucus and their first encroachments at the national level.  This will bring you up to the point where the Mises Caucus first began to gain a foothold in Delaware and how they subverted an LPD event for their own ends.  This brings us to the convention where the local Mises Caucus gained a foothold on the LPD's State Board including, unbeknownst to most of the people who voted for him, a Mises-aligned State Chair.  For several months, we dealt with them as best we could, but the situation was untenable and a means of seizing the initiative was needed.  On October 1st, 2021, we executed our plan.

What was needed next was to consolidate our position so it would not be overturned at the next convention.  Over the last couple of months we've been dealing with the fallout as best as possible and resolving the minor issues that might have derailed our legal position.  There are two remaining issues.  First and foremost, the removed Board members are in denial and several assets remain in their possession, which will require legal remedies to acquire.  Secondly, they are exercising their political muscle to intimidate the LNC into violating its own bylaws to threaten our national affiliation.  That leaves two strategies that must be pursued simultaneously to protect and consolidate our position.

Those strategies will both require assistance to pursue effectively.  For the legal issues, we need donations for attorneys and court costs.  For the LNC, we are appealing a decision to the Judicial Committee by ourselves as a constructive disaffiliation, but failing that we will need support for a petition to appeal a generic decision of the LNC.

Both of these efforts can be aided through this website.  For updates, please join the email list.
